The first time I ever saw a quilt, I was very young – maybe three or four years old. My mother had taken me to a friend’s house, and when I walked in the door and saw it hanging on the wall, I was absolutely fascinated by it. It looked like an abstract painting in colors I had never seen before – blues and purples so dark they were almost black, browns that were almost as dark as the blues and purples, and lighter colors like yellow, green, and red scattered throughout. It was incredible!

Introduction

I’ve always wanted to write a letter to my grandson, telling him everything I know about life so that when he grows up and starts a family of his own he will be ready. This blanket is just one way for me to tell him how much I love him and want what’s best for him.
What Inspired This Story?
The idea for the review of a special blanket came to me as I stood at my home with my grandson. It was very cold outside and after spending all day together, he asked if we could go inside. I helped him get settled in his warm bed and then sat next to him for a few minutes just talking about our day. As I said goodbye, he wrapped his arms around me for a hug and gave me a big kiss on my cheek before saying goodnight.
How Did I Make The Blanket?
I designed and produced a special quilt that has your name on it. This was no ordinary quilt because I made it using an interesting process. First, I wrote you a letter that describes how I made your blanket, explaining how I used The Blanket Wizard so that anyone can make their own personalized blanket. Second, I sent your letter to various airmail carriers around the world with letters attached.
How Do I Feel About Creating Something so Personal?
I feel great about creating something so personal. I am excited to see your reaction when you receive your blanket quilt on Christmas day. This quilt is going to be full of many memories and I want you to keep it forever. It will remind you of how much I love you and how proud I am that I was able to make something so amazing for my grandson.
